In the month of August last year, the makers of Shaakuntalam officially announced that Samantha Akkineni wrapped up the shoot. The actress also thanked director Gunasekhar for creating such a beautiful movie and the entire cast and crew for helping her every step of the way.
The pan-India mythological movie is being directed by the maverick filmmaker, Gunasekhar, who is known for helming woman centric movie Rudhramadevi in which Anushka Shetty played the female lead. The makers of Shaakuntalam shared an interesting update by releasing a small video clip on Twitter that the movie has entered the post-production phase.
Malayalam actor, Dev Mohan, is playing Dushyant in this movie, which is being bankrolled by Neelima Guna and presented by ace producer Dil Raju. Mohan Babu will be seen in the role of Durvasa. This is the first mythological flick of Samantha and it will be released soon in theaters only.
The upcoming film Shaakuntalam narrates the mythological tale of King Dushyanta and Shakuntala, daughter of sage Vishwamitra and apsara Menaka. Pushpa actor Allu Arjun’s daughter Arha is making her acting debut in the film as Prince Bharat. Based on Kalidasa’s epic Sanskrit play Abhijnana Shakuntalam, the upcoming big budget film has garnered intrigue among fans, who are waiting for the teaser of the film.
