Scientists have discovered an elusive disease in the medical field. Due to the disease, the muscles in the body become like bones.. the body becomes like stone. Medical experts named this disease as Stone Man syndrome.
The initial symptoms of this disease are painful and hard soft tissue swellings over the affected muscles that lead to ossification. It usually occurs from birth to 2nd decade of life, following spontaneous or trauma induced flare ups.
The median lifespan is approx 40 years of age. Most patients are wheelchair bound by the end of 2nd decade of life and commonly die of complications of the thoracic insufficiency syndrome.
A 29-year-old from New York’s body gradually started turning to stone. Now it has reached its peak. The young man was unable to move due to his body turning into stone. Doctors named this disease as fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP).
Doctors diagnosed this disease very late and said that this disease occurs in one in two million people. Doctors claim that the body of people infected with this disease becomes like a rock. This disease also occurs genetically. Moreover, in those who get this disease, the body becomes hard like a rock.
Till now only 800 people in the world have been affected by this syndrome. It is said that the doctors have identified those affected by this disease late.
